christmas in may

i love reunions and i love receiving gifts from relatives coming from abroad. oh the imported goodies! last thursday my favorite aunt, ninang, came home from canada. i got so much stuff from her, specially since i was the first person to see what's inside her balikbayan box. then the next day, tita bong and my cousin lindsay came home from florida. during the weekend, all the sisters of my mom staying in manila came to my aunt's house for a reunion. it was so much fun catching up and sharing stories about what happened to our lives since the 3 years they've left manila. this weekend, my mom and i are flying to palawan to meet up with the rest of our relatives for a reunion. we have so much planned for a week's stay -- including going to islands we've never been before. i'm so excited! i hope the weather cooperates so we'd enjoy the sand and the beach to the fullest :)

i just love those paul frank slippers!

busy day

thank God today is over. i'm done with my LOMA (Life Insurance) exams! yay! no more forcing myself to choose to study over doing stuff i really wanted! now i can watch episodes 11-19 of Heroes, read all my books and magazines lying on my bedroom floor, surf the net and download songs, and finish transferring all my mp3s from my old player to my ipod (i'm doing it by artist, and i'm still in "H").

aside from the exams, i also managed to bring my camera to canon to have it serviced (cleaning and detaching of the filter which got stuck to the lens), check out the film lab where i can have my films processed, get my contact prints from a friend, and sign-up for membership to greenpeace organization. then back at home, i played mummy to our sick mynnah bird by holding up the nebulizer to help it beathe.

tomorrow i go back to work and get back to my projects which i have set aside for a week. back to the grindhouse and i can't wait :)

the new toy

i picked up a new toy the other day day to amuse myself. it's not a gadget, it's actually a toy. it's a magic 8 ball! most of you probably had this as a kid, i didn't. actually i wasn't familiar with it until i was already in my 20s. i showed it to my family and told them how it works, just so they know what it is. they took turns asking silly questions and made fake sad faces when they didn't get the answer they wanted. it's a fun little ball and now it sits on my dresser waiting for me to give it a shake and spurt out the answer i wanted to hear.

last night before i put away my toy, i shook it and gave me this answer. i'm not telling what i asked, it's between me and my ball :D

pet grief

losing a pet is a lot like losing a lover or a friend. it’s the same kind of sadness and hollowness you feel when it hits you that you’ll never see them again. RIP, Lucky. you will be missed.

a world waiting for me to discover

during the long weekend before labor day, some officemates and I went up north to see the grand banaue rice terraces. the place is included in the book "1,000 places to see before you die" so despite the long bus and jeep rides we need to endure just to get there, i decided to make a go for it.

the weekend was a tiring one, spent mostly trekking, going up and down mountains, and exploring caves. it was an experience i never thought i would enjoy so much. though i've always been a fan of travelling, trekking and such were never included in my itinerary. and now i discovered just how much fun it could be!
there's so much to discover in the philippines, and i hope to continue discovering all the beautiful destinations our country has to offer and tell about it :D
